About Milford Pride

Milford Pride empowers and connects members of the LGBTQIA+ community while educating and spreading visibility of LGBTQIA+ lives and stories in the Milford, CT, community.

Milford Pride, LLC was founded in 2018 with the mission of bringing together the Greater Milford LGBTQ+ community. We believe in the powers of community and representation to support our LGBTQ+ siblings. We also believe that Milford, CT is a beautiful place to live, full of vibrant people with amazing stories to tell. Through our efforts of planning events and community building, we strive to foster new connections and opportunities.

Milford Pride is an intersectional organization that supports all sexual orientations and gender identities and expressions. We understand that LGBTQ lived experiences differ based on race, ethnicity, gender, socio-economic standing, ability, age, and support. We acknowledge that although our ancestors have fought the good fight for many years, we still have a long way to go for acceptance in everyday society, and that members of our community continue to face suppression and discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender expression.

Our previous years of experience have taught us that Milford is overflowing with love and support. Milford City Hall, Milford Public Library, The Milford Arts Council, Mary Taylor Memorial United Methodist Church, First United Church of Christ, Trinity Lutheran Church, The United Church of Christ in Devon, Woodmont United Church of Christ, and over 200 members of Milford Pride have all supported this mission with open arms.

Through the support of Milford and its people, we have been able to fly the Pride Flag at City Hall for the month of June, 2019, hold a benefit concert with 17 sponsors and over 100 audience members, and host a full Pride Weekend with events at the Milford Public Library and the Downtown Milford Farmers' Market.

What's next? We would like to stretch our mission to meet everyone who needs it in Milford. Once the world allows, we will hold more in-person events, collaborate with other Connecticut pride organizations, and continue to grow this organization. As of now, we are a registered LLC in the state of Connecticut. Although this is technically a for-profit registration, we assure that all donated funds will go directly to our mission. We are on our way to becoming a certified non-profit, we just need more resources and people-power (like you!).
